Ysrael and S-town.

Brian Reed is the person who runs the podcast and has first-hand experiences with John B McLemore. John B McLemore is the man who emailed Brian about there being a covered-up murder in his town of Shit Town Alabama. John hates where he lives and everything about his town, but can’t escape it and for a reason he can’t come up with, ever leave. Brian is in S-Town trying to uncover the murder mystery John has told him about. In S-town Brian goes through old newspapers and tries to contact people that match up with people John has brought up in the murder mystery story. Time is talked about in this podcast through the clocks that John has and fixes. However, the less obvious use of time in the podcast is through John’s life. John lives every day in the same town and nothing around him ever changes, he is always miserable. As the time ticks and ticks he doesn’t make any changes in his life or get out of his town that he hates so much.

Ysreal is a boy who lives a few miles away from Rafa and Yunior when they are staying with their uncles in the countryside. Ysrael is famous because supposedly his face was partially eaten by a pig when he was a baby and he is always wearing a mask that covers his face. Whenever kids see Ysrael they try to chase him and hit him so they can see his face. Yunior and Rafa are in the campo because their mother got a job in the chocolate factory and she sends them to stay with their uncle, who lives in the campo. Rafa and Yunior are different when they are at home vs when they are in the countryside. Rafa is typically angry and violent with Yunior when they are home, however when they are in the countryside they become friends.
