One of the sections Melissa writes about is research for inspiration. To summarize, the main point she is trying to get across is that researching the familiar is often times, the most inspiring, If you just turn on the TV, read the newspaper, or overhear an interesting conversation, it can spark inspiration and help you come up with a topic you will be passionate about researching. When looking for information it is important to keep in mind that no information is too trivial to be used. However, finding a topic that inspires them, there is a great deal of freedom and creativity. A writer has to find a topic they know they can write a creative paper about, so it has to be something that interests or inspires them. Sources are everywhere around us, we just have to look for the ones that inspire us the most. One question she asks is if a stranger were to find your credit card bill, what would they know about you? This inspires the writer to use personal expiriences as research.

Another section Melissa writes about is about research for learning. Melissa says that when you research, you shouldn't just do it because you have to. Your desire to learn will determine how good of a paper you can write. Melissa says that often times, research is overlooked in creative writing pieces because there isn't a formal citation of any sort. However, the research is most definitely there. You can learn from things happening around you as research, you just have to pay attention to it. Research not only makes for a good paper, but teaches the writer to much information they didn't know before.

In my last paper I would say I used research for inspiration the most. I was in the dining hall and got inspired to write a paper about how much it didn't accomodate for a lot of students.

Research:

Poster: looked up the constraints for what a protest poster should have on it and what they look like

Facebook event: interviewed Multiple friends about how they feel about our school and their schools vegetarian options

Flyer: constraints for a flyer and how to make one on microsoft word.
